Online and In-Person Evaluations Near You
Get Clear Answers With an Online or In-Person Psychiatric Evaluation
A psychiatric evaluation gives you a place to start when you’re not sure what’s behind the way you’ve been feeling. It’s a conversation with a psychiatrist, a medical doctor who specializes in mental health. You talk about your symptoms, your history, and what you’d like to change. Sea Breeze Psychiatry offers evaluations in person at our Miramar Beach office, and Florida residents can also meet with us online by telehealth.
Our team includes Dr. Larry De Lay, who is board certified in psychiatry through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. We keep the first visit warm and caring, so you can share what’s going on at your own pace. Whether you visit in person or online, you’ll talk with someone who listens first.
From there, you and your provider can decide together whether treatment makes sense and what it should look like. When you’re ready, request an appointment and we’ll help you take the first step.

Everything to Know About a Psychiatric Evaluation
Who Should Consider a Psychiatric Evaluation
An evaluation makes sense when low mood, constant worry, or trouble focusing starts to get in the way of daily life. It also makes sense when you wonder whether medication could help. You don’t need to arrive with a diagnosis.
Some adults come in for a fresh look at a past diagnosis. Others take a medication that isn’t working the way they hoped. Some are curious about attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in adulthood. If that’s you, an online ADHD evaluation in Florida starts with the same conversation. You can read more about ADHD care at our practice before you book.
Our care is for adults 18 and older, and telehealth visits are available to people who live in Florida.
What Happens During a Psychiatric Evaluation
A psychiatric evaluation is a guided talk about your mental health and the rest of your life. A summary of the American Psychiatric Association’s guideline for adult evaluations(opens in a new tab) says a thorough evaluation covers these areas:
- Symptoms and history: Your mood, anxiety, thinking, and past treatments, including what has and hasn’t helped.
- Substance use: Alcohol, tobacco, other drugs, and any misuse of prescribed or over-the-counter products.
- Medical health: Your overall health, sleep, and every medication and supplement you take.
- Shared decisions: Your provider explains the possible diagnoses and treatment options, then asks what matters to you.
To get started, request an appointment online. Please finish your forms at least 24 hours before your visit so your appointment can go ahead. Our What to Expect page has the full checklist.
There are no right or wrong answers in an evaluation, so you can take your time with each question. Afterward, you and your provider can talk about next steps, which may include medication management.
How Cost Works for an Evaluation
The cost of an evaluation depends on your insurance plan, whether we’re in network with it, and the type of visit. If you plan to use insurance, our Insurance & Fees page lists the plans we accept.
Patients who pay on their own, or whose plans are out of network, pay the total charge or a minimum deposit. That page explains how it works and which payment methods we take. If you’d rather talk it through, call our office at (850) 407-2095.
Why Patients Choose Our Team for Evaluations
Dr. De Lay is a member of the American Psychiatric Association, the group behind the guideline above. He offers evaluations in Miramar Beach and by telehealth, so you can choose the setting that feels right for you.
Our practice is accepting new patients, and each visit starts with the same idea: you come first. Your provider listens before suggesting anything, and you stay part of each decision about your care.
Our team also includes Sarah Miller, a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP), who sees patients by telehealth. If you have questions before you book, our office can answer them at (850) 407-2095.

A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who specializes in mental health. According to the American Psychiatric Association’s overview of psychiatry, psychiatrists can diagnose, order medical tests, prescribe medication, and provide talk therapy. Psychologists usually hold a doctoral degree and treat mental health conditions mainly through talk therapy, and many also specialize in psychological testing. A psychiatrist looks at both the mental and physical sides of how you feel. That means an evaluation can include a talk about medication when it’s the right fit.
